**The Monk and Hound Barbershop** brings proper old-school barbering back to Albany's historic Stirling Terrace. This isn't your quick-clip franchise joint – it's a proper return to the laid-back, no-rush experience blokes used to get before everything went corporate. Jason Abbott's been cutting hair since completing his apprenticeship in 1990 at the legendary Hair by Frank Barbarich in Perth's Trinity Arcade, where he sharpened his skills for over 15 years. After a stint away from the trade, he returned to what he does best in 2014 and brought his expertise to Albany in 2018. His wife Joy handles the front of house and manages their curated range of grooming products. Operating from the heritage 152 Stirling Terrace building, they've restored the space to its barbering roots. It's appointments only, so you won't be rushing in and out – book ahead and settle in for a proper cut. They're open Tuesday to Friday 8am-5pm, Saturday mornings 8am-1pm, closed Sundays and Mondays.
